Being part of the @empower_ocean project in Raja Ampat has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Every day, I get to teach these young local women who grew up surrounded by these breathtaking water but never really had the chance to explore them, let alone learn how to dive or understand the incredible marine world beneath the surface.

That’s what this project is all about, giving them access, skills, knowledge, and most importantly, confidence. Watching them take their first breath underwater, learning how to move calmly in the ocean, and slowly understanding the importance of protecting their reefs and its marine life, it’s powerful. You can literally see something change inside them.

For so long, the barriers for women here were huge; cost of diving, limited opportunities, and the idea that the ocean world was “not for them.” But when these girls put on a wetsuit, carry their own tanks, and prove to themselves that they can do this, their whole world opens up. Suddenly they’re not just students to my eyes, they’re future guides, conservationists, and role models for the next generation in Raja Ampat.

My biggest wish is that they could influence everyone around them. Their families, their villages, the entire region. Change always starts small, but it starts with brave people who care enough to learn and lead.

I’m grateful to witness their journey. Grateful to teach them. Grateful to stand beside them as they step into a world that has always belonged to them. And I can’t wait to see how these young women will shape the future of Raja Ampat, not just as divers, but as guardians of their home. 🌊💙✨

Here in Maluku Barat Daya healthy corals bloom like underwater gardens, fish glide gracefully through the current and sea fans dance gently as if waving hello 🪸🌊✨ It makes me realize how alive, how connected and how fragile this planet truly is.

Grateful to witness the beauty that still thrives here and hopefully that together, we can keep it that way 💙
